Overall, Ms. Johnstone chooses to ignore Trump’s harmful domestic policy, like you have mentioned about the LGBTQ+ community. I would add Sessions’ actions in the Justice Department. These are a big deal, not just throwaway to mention in a line or two. The Justice department under Obama was slowly beginning to look at police abuse and stop contracting with private prisons. With Sessions’ recent announcement about cracking down on weed, many more people of color will be locked up for trivial things.

It is also dishonest for her to write this piece and easily dismiss Trump’s recent tweets about North Korea. Obama had a neoliberal international policy, but these antics by Trump are not normal and harm our international relationships in ways we have never seen before.
